MYRTLE BEACH — The Burroughs & Chapin Co. which owns the Broadway at the Beach complex in Myrtle Beach has purchased the Barefoot Landing entertainment complex in North Myrtle Beach for $43 million.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports http://bit.ly/11d8aE5 that the Barefoot complex has more than 100 stores, restaurants and attractions. Three Barefoot attractions - the Alabama Theatre, Alligator Adventure and the House of Blues - will remain independently owned.
Tenants were briefed last week on initial plans for Barefoot improvements including installing fountains in the 27-acre lake, replacing some old wooden walkways and again playing music throughout the complex.
Burroughs & Chapin says it wants to draw more visitors to Barefoot Landing.
Broadway at the Beach gets about 14 million visitors a year, Barefoot Landing has about half that many.
