SPARTANBURG — South Carolina authorities are investigating the death of a man at a Spartanburg hospital.
The Greenville News reported Saturday (http://grnol.co/ZTwKXO) that authorities are investigating the death of Ansel Dewayne Marlar of Inman. Spartanburg County coroner Rusty Clevenger said the 46-year-old man died at Mary Black Hospital after a short altercation with members of his family.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has asked the State Law Enforcement Division to lead the investigation because staff members at the hospital had requested a deputy to respond to the hospital during the incident.
Clevenger said an autopsy didn’t reveal any traumatic injuries and further examination will be needed to determine the cause of death.
