The Charleston Battery has signed midfielder Michael Azira and defender Quinton Griffith for the upcoming USL Pro season.

Azira returns to the Battery for a second season after scoring the winning goal in the 2012 USL Pro Championship match last season against Wilmington.

Griffith is a current member of the Antigua and Barbuda national team and joins the Battery after playing the past two seasons with Antigua Barracuda FC.

Azira played 18 games for the Battery in 2012 logging 1,567 minutes. Azira’s lone goal for the year turned out to be a crucial one as he scored the game-winner in the Battery’s 1-0 USL Pro championship win against Wilmington.

A native of Kampala, Uganda, Azira, 25, played collegiately at the University of Mobile.

Griffith, 21, has played 23 games for the Antigua and Barbuda national team scoring four goals. He was part of the squad that took part in part in the final stages of the 2010 Caribbean Championship and also played for Antigua and Barbuda in the 2012 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In his two years with Antigua Barracuda, Griffith played 39 games scoring three goals.
