AUGUSTA – Russell Henley will miss the Masters cut today with a frustrating second-round 81 that followed his steady 72 on Thursday. But the PGA Tour rookie savored a week of thrills at Augusta National.
“It’s been incredible,” Henley said. “I got to play two (practice) rounds of golf with Tom Watson, one of them in the Par 3 Tournament. I definitely learned a lot from him and I’m going to be a better player because of this week, for sure.”
Henley, a Charleston resident who turned 24 today, already was looking forward to next week’s RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, and more Masters moments.
“I’m going to be back,” the former University of Georgia All-American said. “I’m not (qualified) yet for next year, but I have a feeling I’m going to be back competing for the championship. That’s something I think about every day.”
