Jenny Sanford reportedly said she doesn’t plan to endorse anyone, including her ex-husband, in the high-profile 1st District congressional race.
In an email to Congressional Quarterly, Jenny Sanford was quoted as saying: “I don’t have any thoughts on the race that I am currently interested in sharing with the public and I have no plans to endorse. I remain completely focused on the four wonderful men in my life and happily so.”
Her husband, Mark Sanford, faces Elizabeth Colbert-Busch in a special election May 7 to fill the seat vacated by now U.S. Senator Tim Scott. Jenny ran her husband’s successful past campaigns for congress and the governor. They divorced after Mark’s mysterious disappearance from South Carolina in 2009 and revelations that he was having an extramarital affair.
Pundits had speculated that Jenny’s endorsement of Colbert-Busch could have been a severe blow to her ex-husband’s bid.
