The third annual Dancing With The ARK’s Stars fundraiser netted more than $47,000 to help families dealing with Alzheimer’s disease throughout the Lowcountry.
More than 400 people packed the Pinewood Preparatory School gym.
The eight local celebrities who competed to win, both by dancing with a professional ballroom dance partner and by raising the most money, raised the bar on both counts. Retired Realtor Mildred Blanton set a fundraising record, bringing in more than $8,600. Allstate Insurance broker Con Chellis and his professional partner, Lorna Parkinson, won the Judges’ Choice award, earning the most points as the best dancer of the evening.
The event funds The ARK, Alzheimer’s Family Support Services.
