WISE COLUMN: S.C. In-Water Boat Show is this weekend at Daniel Island; West Ashley's Fro Yo In Paradise reopens
The South Carolina In-Water Boat Show is set for Friday through Sunday at Daniel Island's Waterfront Park.
The existing city of Charleston dock will be complemented by about 1,000 linear feet of portable floating docks and spud barges to accommodate an array of motor and sailing watercraft.
Ticketholders can tour boats and enjoy land-side attractions.
The event includes dozens of boats on land, boat-building displays, presentations, boating and fishing demos, live music, local food and a children's area.
Vapor Apparel's new line, Altered Latitudes, is the official apparel brand of the boat show. It's in 75 retailers from Maine to the Caribbean, including Charleston Angler's four stores.
Tickets to the boat show are available online for $8. They will be $10 at the gate. Children 12 and under enter free, and a discounted ticket is available for students and active military at $5.
It is sponsored by the S.C. Marine Association. For information, go to www.sc inwaterboatshow.com.
After 19 years as the home to local artists, Pink House Art Gallery in one of the oldest buildings in Charleston at 17 Chalmers St. will close.
The circa 1694 building is on the market for residential use, and the tenants have been told to vacate so the Realtor can stage the property for better viewing by potential suitors.
The last day the property will be open to the public is April 15.
A West Ashley yogurt shop that closed after Thanksgiving for the winter has reopened.
Fro Yo In Paradise at 1710 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in Village Square Shopping Center continues to offer 16 flavors of yogurt with 75 toppings, but it has added sandwiches, paninis, soups and adult and children's combinations.
It's open seven days a week after 11 a.m. with abbreviated hours on Sunday.
Discounts are offered to seniors, students and military personnel.
Pam and Robert Polk are the owners.
The third annual Mount Pleasant Towne Centre Farmers Market begins May 11 and will be open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each Saturday through Aug. 17 on Theater Drive.
