A three-vehicle wreck resulted in two deaths in Dorchester County on Wednesday.
A 1992 Honda Accord swerved into oncoming traffic on U.S. Highway 17 A, striking a 2013 Kia and forcing that vehicle to crash into a 1999 Toyota Forerunner about 10 p.m., S.C. Highway Patrol said.
The Honda’s driver and passenger were killed in the wreck, according to Highway Patrol.
Dorchester County Coroner Christopher Nisbet identified the vehicle’s driver as Sheldwin George, 41, of David Street, and the passenger as Steven Tyrone Donaldson, 45, of Springwood Drive. Both men are of Walterboro, Nisbet said.
George received head and cervical spine fractures, among other injuries, Nisbet said. Donaldson received head and chest trauma, he said.
Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to Highway Patrol. They were killed instantly, Nisbet said.
The Kia’s driver William Singleton, 71, and a passenger in the Toyota were transported to Medical University Hospital for treatment, Highway Patrol said.
The Toyota’s driver Jerry Ward, 38, was not hospitalized, according to Highway Patrol.
The wreck is still under investigation.
