Pet Helpers takes in guinea pigs from cruelty case
Pet Helpers has taken in three adult and three baby guinea pigs that were part of an animal hoarding case in Beaufort County. They will likely get more in the coming days, said Pet Helpers executive director Kevin Ryan.
This is the first time anyone at the James Island no-kill shelter can remember having the rodents for adoption.
On Monday, a Beaufort County woman was charged with three counts of animal cruelty after 40 animals, including 36 guinea pigs, two rabbits and two dogs, were found in her home, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
