On the eve of today's GOP 1st District primary runoff, Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch released an internal poll that indicated she would be competitive with either Republican candidate in the May 7 election.
The Lake Research Partners survey shows Colbert Busch ahead of former Gov. Mark Sanford by 47 percent to 44 percent and leading former Charleston County Councilman Curtis Bostic by 48-39.
The poll of 500 voters was conducted a week ago and had a 4.4 percent margin of error.

Colbert Busch, a political newcomer, has shown solid fundraising ability, but she is still considered an underdog because a Democrat hasn't won the 1st Congressional District since 1980.
