Turnout was only 5 percent at midday at James Island Charter High School, home to five precincts taking part in the Republican's 1st Congressional District runoff between Curtis Bostic and Mark Sanford.
“It was a big debate but I finally ended up going with the experience he has,” said voter Jana Fine, 60, in explaining her vote for former governor Mark Sanford.
On the opposite side, Carol Crusenberry, 75, voted for Bostic, her former attorney. Plus, she added, “he's a good Christian man.”
Polls are open until 7 p.m.
