South Carolina State University’s annual spring Honors and Awards Convocation will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the Orangeburg campus. U.S. Sen. Tim Scott will speak at the event.
The convocation, called “Pursuing Academic Excellence,” will recognize student scholars who have achieved academic excellence throughout the 2012-2013 academic year.
The awards program was established in 1977 to encourage students who demonstrate academic excellence to maintain and achieve higher levels of academic pursuits and to provide an incentive to all students to achieve academic excellence.
