A big customer of the Port of Charleston is looking to add 30 jobs in Mount Pleasant.
Mediterranean Shipping Co. (USA) Inc. plans to set up an information technology and data center at its South Atlantic headquarters off Bowman Road.
The carrier would invest $1.4 million, according to a document filed with Charleston County. The 30 new jobs would pay an average of about $35,567 a year, or $1.067 million in total.
A Charleston County Council committee is scheduled to meet Thursday to accept a $100,000 state grant. The money will be used to reimburse Mediterranean Shipping for some of its expansion-related infrastructure expenses.
A company official in Mount Pleasant did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment today.
