Some of Kiawah Island’s most exclusive properties and contemporary art will be on tour 1-5 p.m. Friday. That’s when the 13th annual Kiawah Island Art & House Tour benefiting the Gibbes Museum of Art’s outreach programs takes place.
Gibbes, etc., an auxiliary group of the Gibbes that comprises Kiawah Island women who support the museum, is the event sponsor. Guests who tour the five homes will see character and world-class art collections exemplifying the Kiawah lifestyle.
Not to be missed are the sweeping staircase and hand-painted elevator mural at 495 Old Dock Road; collection of sculpture created by the owner’s mother at 46 LeMoyne Lane; spectacular maritime forest views off the River Course’s 12th green and 13th tee at 48 Kiawah Island Club Drive; a large window inspired by Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio at 158 Grey Fox Den; or English cottage ambience achieved with blue and white decorative elements at 270 Woodland Garden Lane.
Tour tickets are $55 and include access to participating homes, light refreshments at one tour stop and a pass to the Gibbes Museum of Art valid through Dec. 30. Tickets are available at the Gibbes Museum Store, 135 Meeting St.; www.gibbesmuseum.org/visit/calendar.php; the Kiawah Island Real Estate Offices at The Sanctuary, Freshfields Village and the Main Sales Center; or by calling 722-2706, ext. 21.
