KIAWAH ISLAND — A 100-year lease for popular Beachwalker Park holds escape clauses for both Charleston County and its landlord, Kiawah Development Partners.
And what happens to the park might be at least partly determined by them if nearby Capt. Sam’s Spit is developed.
Meanwhile, the county’s legal department can’t find the 1976 lease that entitled the county to run the Kiawah Island park for 100 years.
That could be a sticking point if the county and Kiawah Development Partners come to a dispute over terms of the lease.
