The Charleston Battery beat the Wilmington Hammerheads, 2-0, in a preseason scrimmage on Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium.
The Battery continues its preseason schedule Tuesday with a match at Coastal Carolina.
The Battery finally broke a late deadlock in the 69th minute with some neat midfield interplay. Quinton Griffith picked out Jose Cuevas, who played a ball in behind the Hammerheads defense to Ben Fisk, who took the ball in stride and tucked a shot past Wilmington goalkeeper Joel Helmrick.
Charleston doubled its advantage within five minutes as Fisk played in to Cuevas on the left side of the box. Cuevas lifted the ball over the last defender and drilled in a scoring shot.
