North Charleston recorded its seventh shooting in five days when two men were shot and wounded during what police called a drug transaction.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday, officers were called to 1815 Clements Ave. in reference to a report of someone trying to force his way into an apartment, and one subject being shot.
At the scene, officers located a second victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound a few doors down at 1819 Clements Ave.
Detectives believe the first victim arrived at 1815 Clements with another subject intending to take part in a drug sale. That’s when three black males reportedly entered the apartment and an altercation took place. Moments later, gunfire erupted, police said.
The first victim was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina in critical condition. The second victim was also transported to MUSC for wounds which do not appear to be life threatening.
The investigation is on-going.
