The Summerville baseball team faces sanctions for using an ineligible player.

In a statement released Friday, the school’s administration discovered this week an ineligible player was on the Green Wave baseball team in the last four games.

The school immediately investigated and confirmed that the player had transferred to Summerville High this year from a local private school. The player participated in a pre-season baseball scrimmage at the private school and transfered.

At Summerville, the player had dressed out for the game against Goose Creek and was a pinch-hitter for the next three games.

Summerville officials reported the violation to the South Carolina High School League.
