Police ID suspect in Summerville bank robbery

Police have identified Charles E. Johnson III, 23, as the suspect in a Summerville bank robbery Thursday afternoon.

Images distributed by police from the security cameras at First Federal Savings and Loan in Summerville show Johnson approaching the teller’s counter. Police say he did not display a weapon, but said he had a bomb. Police did not disclose if Johnson received any money.

He has been charged wit entering a financial institution with intent to steal. His bond hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Hill Finklea Detention Center in Berkeley County.

He was arrested later Thursday afternoon at the Goose Creek Walmart.
