Police report: North Charleston man wanted to sell fire extinguisher to buy crack
A 51-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon after the North Charleston police said he was seen throwing his shoe at a car and carrying a stolen fire extinguisher he planned to sell for money to buy crack cocaine.
Terry Allen Gaillard of April Avenue faces a charge of petty larceny.
About 1:30 p.m., a North Charleston Police Department official first saw a man hurling objects at passing vehicles on Rivers Avenue at Remount Road, according to an incident report.
When patrol officers caught up with the man on Bramble Avenue, he told them that he had thrown his shoe at a car because he was frustrated, the police said.
He was carrying a fire extinguisher, which he acknowledged stealing from Atlas Technologies on Rivers Avenue so he could “sell it for $10 to buy a crack rock,” the report quoted him as saying.
Gaillard remained in jail Tuesday in lieu of a $1,092 bail.
