Colleton County Sheriff recovering after car crash
Staff reports
Colleton County’s Sheriff and a deputy are recovering after an SUV ran into their car this morning.
Sheriff Andy Strickland and Maj. Paul Haase were hospitalized but both released following the crash, according to Deputy Chief Ted Stanfield.
Strickland, who was driving a 2009 Dodge Charger with Haase in the passenger seat, was making a left turn on Snider’s Highway and Mabel Willis Boulevard in Walterboro about 8:30 a.m. when a woman went through a stop sign and T-boned the cruiser, Stanfield said.
Carllessa Prioliau, 27, of Walterboro was driving a 2013 Dodge SUV and hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, S.C. Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant said. Prioliau was issued a ticket for failure to yield. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Strickland and Haase were taken to Colleton Center Medical Center emergency room for treatment and released. They both suffered bumps and bruise and may take a few days off to recover, Stanfield said.
