The State Ports Authority’s long-shuttered marine terminal in Beaufort County is officially back on the market, after several attempts to sell the site fell through.
A Columbia-based real estate agency said today it has launched a new website to market the former Port of Port Royal on Battery Creek.
The asking price is $22.5 million, or nearly one-third more than the last prospective buyer offered to pay for the 51 acres of high land and 266 acres of marsh.
The SPA has been trying to sell the property since 2004.
The last would-be purchaser, Port Royal Redevelopment Group, received four extensions to close on its $17 million bid before the final deadline passed in September. At that time, the SPA said it would have the value of the property re-appraised.
The new marketing website is at naiavantportroyal.com, according to the real estate firm NAI Avant.
