More than two dozen nonprofits will host a community forum on Medicaid expansion in North Charleston on Thursday.

Panelists include Rozalynn Goodwin, director of policy research at the South Carolina Hospital Assocation, Roper Hospital CEO Matt Severance and Robert Greenwald, director of Harvard Law School’s Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation, among others.

The S.C. House of Representatives shot down a proposal last week that would have expanded the health insurance program for low income residents. The Senate could still take up the issue before the legislative session closes this summer.

The Medicaid expansion town hall will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Family Life Center at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 7396 Rivers Ave. A reception will follow the event. The public is welcome to attend.
