Beer deliveryman shot outside North Charleston store
A man delivering beer to a North Charleston grocery store was shot this afternoon.
Shots were reported shortly before 1 p.m. outside the Neighbor Store at 1740 E. Montague Ave. A man told North Charleston police officers he was outside his Budweiser delivery truck when he heard shots and realized he was struck.
The man was taken to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.
Witnesses told police they saw a black man with dread locks, wearing a black hoodie and jeans, running from the area down East Montague Avenue, Pryor said.
Police dogs searched the area, and a helicopter hovered above.
Investigators canvassed the area looking for a suspect matching the description but did not locate him, Pryor said.
Academic Magnet High School and Charleston County School of the Arts were on lockdown until around 2:30 p.m.
