Charleston Realtors association adds Lowcountry ‘watch’ list
The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors released its February home sales figures last week, reporting another month of improved sales volume and prices.
That’s been constant for more than a year, but the group’s latest report added something new: a “watch” list highlighting particularly strong areas in the region.
In Charleston County, the upper Charleston peninsula is on the list because of less inventory and growing sales last year.
The area had 20 home sales last month, up from 11 in February 2012. Inventory remains low with roughly 100 homes on the market.
In Berkeley County, Daniel Island made the list with 19 homes sold for a median price of $573,300 in Feb-ruary.
That’s 171 percent jump insales and a 28 percent price increase compared to the month a year ago.
The Summerville/Ridgeville area is on the list for Dorchester County. The area saw 74 homes sold in February, 25 more than the month a year ago.
The association also is looking for feedback from agents and homeowners who are affected by higher flood insurance premiums.
