GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Parents of children who attend a Greenville County elementary school are receiving warnings of bat sightings in the building.

The Greenville County School District used an automated calling system to notify Fountain Inn Elementary parents about the bats appearing at the school again.

Oby Lyles, a spokesman for Greenville County Schools, said bats were seen Thursday coming and going through the gym’s exterior walls. Lyles said no bats have been seen inside the building.

Lyles said district officials are getting help from a pest-control company to deal with the bats. He said a trap is being installed over the access area to allow the bats to exit but not re-enter, and that all drains and roof flashing are being checked, resealed or closed with wire and concrete.
