Citadel baseball on a roll heading to Wofford

The Citadel baseball team has won two straight and seven of its last eight games heading into its second Southern Conference series of the season starting today at Wofford.

The 12-6 Bulldogs are 2-1 in the SoCon; the Terriers are 7-11 and 0-3. Game times are set for 6 p.m. today, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday in Spartanburg.

The Terriers have lost six straight, including a three-game series at Georgia Southern and losses to Clemson, UNC Asheville and Presbyterian.

Josh Hyman, a junior rightfielder, is batting .449 with three home runs and 15 runs batted-in for the Terriers, who are hitting .265 as a team, ninth in the SoCon.

The Citadel currently leads the SoCon in batting with a .318 team average. Hughston Armstrong is hitting team-high .427, and Bo Thompson is at .375 with six homers and 17 RBI.

Pitchers Austin Pritcher (3-0, 1.09 ERA). James Reeves (1-1, 4.58) and Austin Mason (1-1, 4.84) are slated to start for The Citadel, which is at home against South Carolina on Tuesday.
