Woman stole nearly $30,000 worth of jewelry, police say
A Summerville woman is accused of stealing nearly $30,000 worth of jewelry and other items from a downtown home.
Jessica Brittany Moore, 24, of Harroway Road, is charged with grand larceny in connection with the incident, according to jail records.
On Dec. 13 of last year, a 22-year-old woman told Charleston police that she noticed several pieces of jewelry missing from her Bee Street apartment.
Several Tiffany boxes were still sitting on a desk in the woman’s bedroom, she told police, but the items they held were no where to be found.
Among the missing items were a diamond ring worth $17,000, a diamond band worth $10,000, other pieces of jewelry and a Coach handbag, an incident report states.
The woman first noticed the items missing after her 38-year-old roommate asked if she’d seen a camera that was missing from his bedroom closet, according to the report.
The woman told police that Moore, her friend, had stayed at the home and was left alone on multiple occasions.
Charleston police arrested Moore on Wednesday. She is being held at the Charleston County jail.
