Johns Island fire destroys two sheds, three cars
Two sheds and three cars were destroyed when wind spread a fire on Johns Island Wednesday.
A fire at 3294 Sassy Drive was reported about 5:30 pm., St. Johns Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief James T. Ghi said.
Sassy Drive is off Patton Avenue, which comes off Main Road about two miles from Maybank Highway.
St. Johns and Charleston firefighters responded. Crews arrived to see a car in the driveway and a shed behind the house on fire. Gusty winds caused the fire to spread to some woods behind the house, igniting a shed an adjacent property, Ghi said.
Water had to be shuttled from a fire hydrant that was half a mile away, Ghi said. St. Paul’s Fire Department sent a water tender to help.
The fire destroyed two 400-square-foot sheds and three cars. The cause is under investigation.
