Two airlifted to MUSC after head-on collision on I-26 near Harleyville
A two-car wreck on I-26 near Harleyville today was caused by a driver who spun around and hit another car head on, according to the Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred about 4:45 p.m. on I-26 east near mile marker 180.
Janna Britts, 29, of Lexington was driving a 2007 VW sedan when she lost control, went off the left side of the road, spun around, and hit a 2011 VW SUV driven by a 39-year-old Charleston man, Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant said.
Both drivers were traveling alone and both were wearing seatbelts. The man had to be cut out of the car. Both drivers were airlifted to Medical University Hospital.
Britts was charged with driving too fast for conditions, Wyant said.
The interstate was closed for about an hour and 15 minutes.
