White House to honor former Charleston war photographer
The White House is honoring former war photographer Stacy Pearsall of Charleston as for her work with veterans.
Pearsall will be recognized as a Women Veterans Champion of Change at a March 19 ceremony in Washington, D.C.
The Department of Veterans Affairs will conduct the ceremony, and the White House will feature her story on its website.
Pearsall was an Air Force combat photographer who earned the Bronze Star Medal and Commendation with Valor for heroic actions under fire. She is a professional photographer and helps female veterans get the assistance they need at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston.
She also gathers donated clothes and shower items for homeless veterans and is a board member of the Foundation for Arts and Healing at Harvard University and Wounded Nature Working Veterans, among other causes.
