Firm picks Charleston’s ‘NoMo’ district for HQ expansion

A Charleston company that helps businesses and other clients cut their expenses is moving to a bigger space within the city and plans to add 50 jobs to its payroll.

SIB Development & Consulting Inc. announced Monday it will relocate to a soon-to-be renovated building at 1081 Morrison Drive from its existing offices at 288 Meeting St. by early September.

“We’ve been searching for new space for some time,” said Dan Schneider, SIB’s founder and CEO. “We finally found a great partner in the developer who was willing to work with SIB on all its needs, including our indoor and outdoor space requirements as well as our desire to be a part of the redevelopment of the area”

The firm said the new location, which is near Brigade Street, will give the company more space and allows it to stay on the peninsula.

Started in 2009, SIB works with clients around the country and has about 50 employees. It reviews and reduces recurring operating expenses such as telephone contracts, property taxes, waste hauling and workers compensation insurance premiums.

The firm said it expects to add 50 jobs over the next two years as demand for its service grows.

The company’s new head office is being developed by Stephen Zoukis of Sullivan’s Island-based Raven Cliff Co.

The site is within a mostly industrial section of the city called “NoMo,” short for or “Northern Morrison Drive,” that’s starting to attract fresh investment and uses.

Zoukis said in statement that he shares Schneider’s “enthusiasm for the neighborhood based on an appreciation of its location and access, the nice street grid and the number of buildings available for innovative adaptive re-use by clever, creative users.”

“We expect great things to happen here,” he said.
