Charlestonians are marking Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week through Friday — a week-long event designed to help find a cure for the nervous system disease.
Multiple Sclerosis can be unpredictable and “interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body,” according to a press release about the awareness week.
The Greater Carolinas Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society reports 14,440 residents in North Carolina and South Carolina are afflicted with the disease.
Other communities in the two states are also observing Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week.
