Charleston police: Man arrested outside West Ashley nightclub with stolen gun
A North Charleston man was arrested outside a West Ashley nightclub early Sunday morning after an officer said he spotted a gun that turned out to be stolen in his SUV.
Michael Jarrod Moody, 24, of Houston Street in North Charleston was charged with reckless driving, unlawful carrying of a handgun and possession of a stolen handgun.
An officer was talking with a person outside Plan B at 3025 Savannah Highway shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday when he saw a black Chevy Trail Blazer back out of an illegal parking space at high speed with tires pealing, shift into drive and almost hit two pedestrians, according to the incident report from Charleston police.
The officer stopped the Trailer Blazer, and another officer noticed a black and silver handgun in the rear passenger floorboard in plain view, according to the report. The handgun turned out to be stolen from a Summerville resident, who was notified that the gun had been found, police said.
