ELON, N.C. — Elon’s Alex Swim knocked a game-winning, two-out single to center field in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Phoenix (7-5, 2-2 SoCon) defeated College of Charleston (8-6, 0-1).
The thriller featured a pitcher’s duel between Charleston’s Matt Pegler and Elon’s Dylan Clark, both preseason All-SoCon first team selections. Each starter went at least eight innings and gave up just two runs apiece.
