Cougar women fall to Appalachian State, 74-60, in SoCon Tournament
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Anna Freeman scored 23 points to lead four players in double figures as Appalachian State defeated the College of Charleston, 74-60, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference women’s basketball tournament at Kimmel Arena.
The Cougars (15-15)shot just 29 percent from the floor, on 22 of 77 shooting, while the Mountaineers (20-9) made nearly 50 percent of their shots – 24 of 49 – despite committing 25 turnovers.
The Cougars were lead by Alyssa Harris with 12 points and Latisha Harris with 11 points.
The Cougars, who trailed 34-28 at halftime, closed to gap to two points on two different occasions, but could never get a lead in the second half.
