Cougars beat Catamounts, 78-70
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Anthony Thomas scored a career-high 18 points and Adjehi Baru added 14 points to lead the College of Charleston past Western Carolina, 78-70, Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference basketball tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center.
The Cougars, who led 31-28 at halftime, used a 14-6 run to start the second half to break open the game.
Baru finished with his eighth double-double of the season as he hauled in 13 rebounds to go along with three blocks and two steals.
The Cougars (23-9) will face Elon, a 68-61 winner over UNCG, Sunday night at 8:30 p.m., in the semifinals.
Andrew Lawrence had 16 points and Anthony Stitt added 10 in the victory.
