Pattison’s Academy is holding a spin-a-thon this morning to raise money for the charter school and its summer camp.

The school, located in West Ashley, provides rehabilitative therapies along with education for children with disabilities.

The Pedal for Pattison campaign has raised about $700,000 since 2008. Spinning Instructor Jodi Bateman, Charleston RIDE, East Shore Athletic Club, several volunteers and businesses come together each year with the children and families of Pattison’s Academy for the event.

“During this four hours, the gym (at Pattison’s Academy) is physically transformed into a rock concert atmosphere with production lights and an awesome A/V system. This is just what you see,” said Rebecca Young, one of the fundraiser’s founders. “What brings chills to your body and fills your heart with overwhelming joy is the magnitude of energy and love that floods this place every year.”

The event kicks off at 7:45 a.m. at Pattison’s Academy School Gym, located 2014 Bees Ferry Road in Charleston.
