North Charleston man accused of beating man over Nintendo
A 21-year-old North Charleston man is accused of beating up an acquaintance so he could steal a Nintendo Game Cube valued at $200.
Marlon Vandiver of Bucknell Drive is charged with strong arm robbery, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
A 22-year-old man told deputies the robbery occurred after he let an acquaintance named MV into his Bucknell Drive on Feb. 19. MV went into a bedroom and grabbed the Nintendo, according to an incident report.
When the resident tried to stop the theft, MV punched him in the head about 10 times, deputies said. The victim was left with scratches, but declined medical attention, a report stated.
The victim spotted Vandiver playing basketball on the street Thursday and called deputies, identifying Vandiver as the man who robbed him, a police report stated. Deputies arrived and arrested the suspect after a short foot chase, the report stated.
He was being held at the Charleston County jail Friday on a $25,000 bond.
