South Carolina charter schools to host teacher recruitment fair in Columbia
The Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina will host a teacher recruitment fair on March 16 for educators interested in working for the state's charter schools.
The fair will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Carolina School for Inquiry, 7405-A Fairfield Road, Columbia, SC 29203. The state's public charter schools have more than 100 openings for 2013-14.
Anyone who has considered teaching but doesn't have the credentials to do so is encouraged to attend. The state's charter schools can have a faculty where 25 percent of its staff members aren't certified.
“It will be an exciting day with 10 new charter schools opening across the state and several established schools adding new staff as they expand,” said Mary Carmichael, executive director of the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina, in a statement.
South Carolina has more than 20,000 kids in 55 public charter schools, and nine of those are in Charleston County.
