Spellers to compete for regional title at Spellbound!

The area’s top spellers will converge on Charleston Southern University on Wednesday for Spellbound!, the Lowcountry’s regional spelling bee, sponsored by Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union and The Post and Courier.

Fifty students representing public and private elementary and middle schools from throughout the area, will participate in the competition, which begins at 7 p.m. at Lightsey Chapel.

To compete in Spellbound!, students first had to be top finishers at district bees. More than 40,000 students took part in the elimination process.

The winner gets an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 26–June 1.
