Boeing executive to address investor conference this afternoon
More than six weeks into the grounding of the 787 Dreamliner, a top Boeing executive will address an investor conference in New York City this afternoon.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Ray Conner is scheduled to speak to the J.P. Morgan Aviation, Transportation and Defense Conference at 1:10 p.m.
The typical format of such appearances is a question-and-answer session with the host financial institution’s Boeing or aerospace analyst. Conner is sure to be asked about the 787 situation, the Chicago-based aerospace giant’s biggest problem at the moment.
The Federal Aviation Administration grounded the technologically advanced jet on Jan. 16 after a pair of smoky battery incidents aboard Japanese-owned 787s. Boeing presented its fix to the FAA on Feb. 22, but whether the regulator will accept that plan and when the jets will fly again is unclear.
Fifty 787s, included four assembled in North Charleston, have been delivered to airlines so far.
Conner’s comments this afternoon will be webcast here.
Check back later for an update on Conner’s appearance.
