Charleston sculptor Hirsch topic of talk
Jane Hirsch, daughter of Charleston’s premier sculptor Willard Hirsch, will be at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet at 2 p.m. Thursday to talk about her father and his art and to sign copies of her book, “Art is a Powerful Language: Willard Hirsch: The Man, The Artist,” published by Home House Press.
The book, which includes essays by art historian Martha R. Severens, family members, friends and students, is a companion to a comprehensive exhibit of his work that traveled to Brookgreen Gardens from the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston.
The exhibition will be at Brookgreen Gardens through April 21.
