Union school bus drivers in Charleston County will vote today on whether to accept the contract offered by their employer, Durham School Services.
L.D. Fletcher, president of Teamsters Local 509, said he had no comment Friday. Earlier in the week, Fletcher said the union would go on strike Monday if its member drivers reject the deal.
Union school bus drivers in Beaufort and Dorchester 2 schools approved contract offers from Durham earlier this week.
The union had been negotiating on behalf of drivers in each district since the summer, and the possibility of a strike has loomed over the Lowcountry since mid-January.
Charleston County School District officials didn’t issue any warning this week to parents to prepare for a potential strike, which it had done in previous weeks.
