COLUMBIA, S.C. -- U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson is scheduled to help Cub Scouts build the first of what tourism officials hope will be 600 new picnic tables at South Carolina state parks.

Wilson was slated to be at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia at 10 a.m. Saturday to announce the “600 in 60” program that aims to put 600 picnic tables in parks by the end of April.

Wilson was to have been joined by Cub Scouts, who were to put together at least three tables, and by officials from Cox Industries, Inc., an Orangeburg manufacturer of outdoor wood products.
