3rd person arrested in West Columbia man’s disappearance
LEXINGTON, S.C. -- A third person has been charged in the disappearance and death of a West Columbia man missing since 2011.
Lexington County deputies say 33-year-old Rachel Rae Fremion of Pelion was arrested Thursday and charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Deputies say Fremion helped Jamey Charles Mallette clean up a crime scene at Mallette’s Gaston home in December 2011. Mallette and William Thomas Embree Jr. are accused of kidnapping and killing 22-year-old Michael Jody George, who is still missing.
Deputies say forensic evidence links Embree and Mallette to George’s disappearance and death.
It wasn’t known if Fremion had an attorney. Mallette is in jail, and Embree is currently serving a six-year prison sentence for assault.
