The Liberty Hill Improvement Council After School Literacy Program is hosting a drop-in today from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Danny Jones Complex-Armory Armory, 5000 Lackawanna Blvd., in North Charleston.
The event is to give the public as well as current and potential sponsors see its program, which is aimed at helping struggling readers.
Forty students from Hursey Elementary are enrolled in the 2-year-old program. Last year, of the 22 students enrolled in the program at the end of the year, all but two were reading at or above grade level.
