The mother of a Hanahan child who is in critical condition with a head injury has been charged along with the father.
Rachael Felicia Enciso, 30, of Murray Drive was charged today with unlawful conduct toward a child, Hanahan Police Lt. Michael Fowler said. The charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
Her son was taken to Medical University Hospital on Feb. 21 with a fractured skull and bleeding and swelling on the brain, according to police. The child remains in the hospital in protective custody.
Investigators said the child’s father, Derek Allen Stilson, 23, also of Murray Drive, threw his son onto the living room floor when he wouldn’t stop crying.
Stilson was charged last week with infliction of great bodily injury to a child. Today he was also charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.
