A benefit is planned for March 10 to help a North Charleston police officer who injured his legs in a wreck while responding to a call earlier this month.
An oyster roast fundraiser for Officer Allen Cooke will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at DIG in the Park, 1049 E. Montague Ave. The event offers all-you-can-eat oysters for $20. The regular menu also will be available.
Cooke was injured in a single-vehicle wreck Feb. 7. The incident, which appeared to be weather-related, occurred at Dorchester Road and Industrial Drive while the officer was responding to a call, police said.
Cooke received injuries to his legs, requiring surgeries and keeping him out of work for some time, organizers said.
RVSP to email@example.com only for those who want to eat oysters so the restaurant can get the proper amount.
