Driver charged with felony DUI after Ladson wreck

Charleston County Sheriff's OfficeJulia A. Smith, 49, of Decatur Drive in Summerville was charged with felony DUI, driving under suspension and simple possession of marijuana after a head-on collision in Ladson Tuesday night.

A driver blamed for a head-on crash in Ladson Tuesday night is facing felony DUI charges.

A Chevrolet Suburban crossed the center line on a curve on Lincolnville Road near Ladson Road and hit a Toyota sedan going in the opposite direction about 8:12 p.m. Tuesday, Charleston County Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said.

The Toyota’s driver was airlifted to Medical University Hospital with serious injuries, and a passenger was transported with injuries not consider life threatening.

The Suburban driver, Julia A. Smith, 49, of Decatur Drive in Summerville was taken to Trident Hospital to be checked for injuries and then charged with felony DUI, driving under suspension and simple possession of marijuana.
